Which Parts of Raleigh Do We Reach Best?
East and southeast Raleigh are the best fit for us. We are based in Kenly, NC, out along I-95 to the east, and we have no shop inside the city. Every Raleigh job means a drive in.
That drive is shortest for the parts of town that face our side of the county:
- Southeast Raleigh along I-40, including the area around the I-40 and I-440 interchange.
- East Raleigh along I-87 and US 64, the route that heads out toward Knightdale and Wendell.
- Inside the I-440 Beltline on the east side, plus downtown.
Raleigh is a big city. It is the state capital and the Wake County seat, and the 2020 Census counted 467,665 people here. If you are in North Raleigh or out west past the Beltline, call anyway. We will tell you on the phone, plainly, whether we can take the job. We do not promise a time we cannot keep, and if a locksmith closer to you makes more sense, we will say so.
Locked Out in a Downtown Raleigh Parking Deck?
Downtown Raleigh was laid out as a grid with the North Carolina State Capitol at its center, in Union Square. State workers, visitors and people heading to shows all park downtown. The City of Raleigh runs several decks there, among them the Blount Street, Wilmington Street Station, Performing Arts and Cabarrus decks.
A parking deck is hard to search, so the details you give us matter. When you call, tell us:
- The name of the deck, or the street its entrance is on.
- The level and any row, color or pillar marking near your car.
- What you drive (year, make and model), and if the motor is still running.
If your call drops on a lower level, walk up to street level and call back. Is a child or an animal trapped in a car on a warm day? Call 911 first, and then call us.
Car Locksmith in Raleigh: New Keys and Key Fobs
A missing car key in Raleigh does not have to mean a tow to the dealer. Our car locksmith cuts new keys and programs new key fobs and keyless remotes at the car, for many makes and models. Programming is how the car learns to accept a new fob. We cannot do it for every car on the road, so we check your car on the first call.
Here is what changes the job:
- You still have one working key. This is the simple case. We copy it and pair the new one.
- Every key is gone. This takes more work, and it depends on your car. Tell us up front.
- The key broke off in the lock. Leave the piece where it is. Pulling at it can push it in deeper.
Driveway, apartment lot, office lot or deck, the work happens where the car is parked. Read more about our auto locksmith service.
Renting in Raleigh? Talk to Your Landlord Before You Rekey
About half the homes in Raleigh are rented. Census figures for 2020 to 2024 show 50.7% of homes in the city are lived in by their owners, so nearly as many belong to renters. NC State University, with roughly 39,000 students, adds to that.
For renters, a rekey is a fair question after a lost key or a roommate who moves out. Read your lease first. If it says lock changes need the landlord’s OK, get that OK in writing before we come. Then we can cut a copy of the new key for the landlord too.
For landlords and property managers, the best time to rekey is between tenants. A rekey swaps the small pins inside the lock, so the old keys stop turning it. The lock stays on the door, and the next tenant moves in with keys that nobody else has.
Own your Raleigh home? The same rekey makes sense the week you move in. We also fix locks that stick, replace locks that are worn out, and install smart locks that open with a code or a phone app. If a repair will do, we will tell you. See our residential locksmith services.
Raleigh Offices and Shops: Who Has a Key Right Now?
Most business lock problems start with a question nobody can answer: who still has a key? Before you call a commercial locksmith, take five minutes and make a key list. Write down each door, and each person who holds a key to it.
That list tells you what to ask us for:
- A rekey on any door where a key holder has left, or where a key went missing.
- New copies only for the people on the list who still need them.
- Repair or a stronger lock on doors that wear out from heavy daily use.
- An emergency locksmith visit when you are locked out of the building.
Our phone line is open 24 hours, so you can call before your doors open or after they close. Learn more about our commercial locksmith work.
Garner, Clayton and the Towns on Our Side of Raleigh
Some people who search for a Raleigh locksmith are really just outside the city. Garner sits south of Raleigh along US 70. Clayton sits southeast of Raleigh in Johnston County, closer to our home base. If either one is where you are, our Garner locksmith page and our mobile locksmith help in Clayton have the details for those towns.
